In 2017, the Taku River Tlingit, Tahltan, and Kaska Nations strengthened their partnership around a shared northern vision with the establishment of the 3 Nations Society. Since then, the 3Nations have worked together to advance shared priorities in health, education, environmental stewardship, training and development, child and family well-being, emergency management, and Nation-to-Nation relationships. This united effort has strengthened collaboration, supported community well-being, and advanced a shared vision for the North.
3Nations members and Leadership called for a Gathering of the Nations to celebrate and honour the many accomplishments and milestones achieved since 2017. The Gathering was envisioned as an opportunity to bring community members, leaders, Elders, and youth together to strengthen relationships through culture, ceremony, and shared learning—reinforcing the 3Nations’ shared identity, story, and vision for the future.
The Gathering took place in the Kaska community of Lower Post on August 28, 29, and 30, bringing three days of cultural sharing, traditional foods, traditional games, and time spent on the land with friends, relatives, and neighbours.
